Progress Reports & Conferences
Your child’s progress report for the first marking period went home on Wednesday. Teachers are looking forward to their conference with you on Monday to discuss your child’s progress, and suggest ways that school and home can work together to support your child’s learning and maximize progress. (There is no school for students on Monday due to these scheduled parent/teacher conferences.) We look forward to seeing you then!
Lost and Found items are piling up. When you are here for parent conferences, please stop by the tables in the front foyer, where items will be spread out for easy viewing You might find that one item you didn’t even know you had lost! Please note that all items will be donated to charity if not picked up by Friday, December 7th. Thank you!
Hear ye! Hear ye! The Memorial School Winter Show featuring our own 4th/5th Grade Band and Chorus is just around the corner! Students and our music staff have been working hard, and are eager to share their winter concert with fellow students, family, and friends! On December 12th at 9am, under the direction of Mrs. Nui, Mrs. Rzasa, and Mr. Napierkowski, fourth and fifth graders will perform their concert for the entire school. In the evening at 7pm, families and friends are invited to attend this very special event. Concert dress for students is black pants/skirt, black shoes, and a plain white top. For the evening performance, children need to arrive at school at 6:40pm. (Band students should remember to bring their instruments, and should report to the gym first, where the chorus will be gathering.) Thank you, in advance, for your help in making the show a success! See you there!
PTO News
SCRIPS Program The holidays are coming, and a gift card to a favorite restaurant or store might be the perfect way to solve your shopping “challenges!” Once again, the PTO is offering the opportunity to purchase gift cards from over 100 stores and restaurants without leaving the comfort of your home. Shopping through the SCRIP program will help your family and Memorial School too. For every gift card purchased, the school receives a percentage ranging from 2% to 17%. What a simple -- and useful - fundraiser! Orders are due today, Friday, November 30th. Check out previous week’s backpack folders for information and order forms or the PTO websitewww.memorialschoolpto.org for more information. Contact maryannvigliotta@gmail.com with any questions.
RATITUDE – FILLING “THEIR BUCKETS” HELPS FILL OURS TOO
Memorial Helping Memorial
Once again Memorial School is participating in the “Giving Tree.” If you know of a family in need of
assistance during the holiday season, please contact the Guidance Counselor, Danielle Flaccavento @
(781) 238-6825 or at Flaccavento@bpsk12.org to help us to help them.
The Memorial School PTO is collecting donations for our Family Fund, established to assist Memorial families in need. Any amount is welcome. In conjunction with the Memorial School staff, we would like to help a number of families this year. If you are able to help, please send in your donation with your child in an envelope labelled, "PTO Family Fund." Checks can be made out to Memorial School PTO, and in the memo section: Family Fund. Donations may also be made at the Winter Concert on December 12th. Thank you in advance for your generosity.
$1 Donations for Hurricane Sandy victims.
Memorial is also collecting dollar donations to support victims of Hurricane Sandy during the holiday
season. The donation is going to the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. If you and your child would like to help support
people affected by this storm, please send your donation to school in an envelope marked “Hurricane Sandy Relief.”
Toys for Tots
Finally, the Memorial School will be helping the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves with the Toys for Tots Program. We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys in the collection box located in front of the Health Office until Friday, December 16th. This can be a very difficult time of the year for many families. Please consider helping to put a smile on a child’s face. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
FROM THE 5TH GRADE PARENT COMMITTEE
This is an exciting time for our children as they enjoy their last year at Memorial School and prepare to move on to middle school. Every year, a group of parents get together to plan end of the year activities for our 5th graders to make this last year a special and memorable one. All 5th grade parents are invited to come to meeting to learn more about how you can help with the planning of these end of the year activities. Please join us on Thursday, December 6th at 7pm in our School Library.
