5th ANNUAL MEMORIAL SCHOOL VOCABULARY PARADE! On Wednesday, October 31st, beginning at 8:45, students will parade out the front door of the school, walk along the sidewalk on Winn Street, up the bus driveway, and promenade around to the back of the school and into the butterfly garden. Please come by and cheer us along the “parade route” where there is sure to be a photo op or two! Parking in the school lot is very limited during the school day, but there is likely to be room in the lower lot of St. Margaret’s Church! Drop your car there and then line the bus driveway for a perfect spot to view your Memorial friends in all their costumed vocabulary finery! Should there be inclement weather on Wednesday, we will move the promenade indoors and begin at 8:50.
VETERANS’ DAY One of our special traditions at Memorial School is honoring those who have served our country in the Armed Services. Each year, we collect the names of family and friends who have served (or are currently serving) in the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, or National Guard. Their names will be displayed on the Memorial School Wall of Honor in Memorial Hall, just outside the cafetorium doors. 4th grade students will lead us in honoring veterans and those currently serving our country in an assembly on Thursday, November 8th at 9:15. Families are welcome to join us for this special ceremony.

TREATS FOR OUR TROOPS We are once again joining other Burlington and area schools in collecting Halloween Candy for our troops overseas. Over the last few years we have been able to send over 6,000 lbs of candy to troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Please join in and donate some of your Halloween candy to help us send a little Halloween cheer overseas! Soldiers love getting cards and letters from kids back home. If you would like to send a special message to a soldier overseas, please put your letter in the Orange Collection box along with your candy and we will make sure it gets to a soldier! If you know of a soldier stationed overseas who would like to receive a box, please email their info to treatsforourtroops@gmail.com Thank you!
