The Music Department at Memorial presents “Winter Rock469cd851fb8e98acee5d6f144a94f20f.jpg

Wednesday, December 14th, 2016

7:00 p.m.

Your child has been working very hard towards this concert and we hope you and your family can be there to support them. Feel free to email or call us if you have any questions.

  • Concert Attire:
Morning - The students may wear regular school clothes in the daytime - but please no t-shirts with logos or words.
Evening - Our concert is all about rock and roll music in the 1950s/early 60s. We would like the students to dress as though they were from that time period!  Here are some ideas to get you started:
  • Girls: Full skirts, cardigans, sweaters, jeans, capri pants, leather jackets, high ponytails, etc.
  • Boys:  Jeans, white t-shirts, button-down shirts, leather jackets, varsity jackets, sunglasses, black boots, greased hair, etc.
  • Have fun with your outfit choice, and don’t feel as though you have to purchase something.  See what’s in your closet, or borrow something from a friend!

  • Call Time:
Please make sure that your child arrives to the school no later than 6:40 p.m.  Band students will report to the music room, string students will report to the lesson room, and chorus students who do not play an instrument will report to the Art Room at 6:50pm.

  • Please note: ALL 4th and 5th graders must attend the Winter Concert. The students have been working so hard since September to prepare for this performance, and we need all of their wonderful voices in our ensemble!  (Please contact us in advance if you have a conflict with attendance)

* We look forward to seeing you there! *
Sincerely,
Mr. Napierkowski, Mrs. Niu, and Mrs. Rzasa

Reminder from Mrs. York
The flame of a candle project extended to 12/13

Currently, Memorial students in grades 1-5 are working on an art project where they represent their personalities through the flame of a candle. This candle project is a way to highlight our students’ differences and yet bring them together at the same time. These candles will be adorning our hallways for the month of December.

During Art class, I asked the students how they use light in their own family traditions and celebrations. Their responses were incredibly sweet and thoughtful. I captured some students’ responses on video. In the spirit of celebrating everyone’s traditions, I would love to create a slideshow of students celebrating with light at home.

If you have any pictures ( past or recent) of a family celebration using light or flame ( candles, fireworks, sparklers, decorative string lights, lanterns, diyas, menorahs, kinaras, bon fires, fanoos, birthday cakes, wreaths, and LED displays), I would love to include them in the slideshow.  If your child is on the Do Not Photograph list, you can still send in images of the light/flame from your celebration. The slideshow will also be shown in the hallway for the month of December. Please email the pictures to me by December 13th,  along with a brief description (i.e. what you are celebrating and how light is used).

Fondly Mrs. York

Burlington Fire Holiday Toy Task Force

The  holiday season is  fast approaching, here at Fire, we have in past years teamed up with 'Toys for Tots' to run our holiday toy drive. This has proven more and more difficult to follow through with as they no longer have local contacts and the toys have not always been picked up in time to be distributed by the holidays. That is why this year we have decided that we will not be affiliating ourselves with that program.

Despite that, we will still be collecting toys at both Fire stations. These toys will be driven in by Burlington Firefighters and donated directly to the Children's Hospital of Boston for distribution through the MA Children's hospitals. So spread the word, and let’s help put a smile on the children's faces this holiday season.

Your gift donations are just as welcome, and just as appreciated. All of the same still rules apply: new, unused, unwrapped toys for boys and girls of all ages.
Any questions, feel free to ask and we'll try to get an answer as soon as possible.
