If you are looking for interesting and creative activities to do with family or friends please check out massvacation.com for some low cost ideas.
To Parents of current 3rd grade students: Please send a copy of your child’s most recent physical exam dated after January 1, 2016 to your elementary school Nurse’s Office before the start of school in September.  Any form that your physician’s office uses is acceptable. Please make sure that all required immunizations are also documented on the form. You may send a printed copy or email an attachment with the student’s name in the subject area to your school nurse.  Any questions, please call Lynne Sakey, School Nurse at 781-270-1724 or email lsakey@bpsk12.org.  Fax: 781-229-5751.

  1. The first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970.
  2. Earth Day originated in the US but became recognized worldwide by   1990.

  1. On Earth Day 2009, Disney released a documentary film called Earth that followed the migration paths of four animal families.

  1. On the very first Earth Day, 20 million people gathered in the streets of America to protest the industrial revolution. An environmental movement was born as a result.

  1. Every year on April 22, men, women, and children collect garbage, plant trees, clean up coral reefs, show movies, sign petitions, and plan for a better future for our planet.

  1. Gaylord Nelson founded Earth Day while he was working as a US senator.

  1. Earth Day was renamed officially by the UN in 2009 as International Mother Earth Day.

  1. Some schools and communities celebrate Earth Day for a whole week to expand the time frame that people focus on the earth and how they can preserve it.

  1. On Earth Day 2012, more than 100,000 people rode bikes in China to reduce CO2 emissions and save fuel.

  1. In an Earth Day celebration in 2011, 28 million trees were planted in Afghanistan by the Earth Day Network.

  1. In Panama, 100 endangered species of orchids were planted and maintained to prevent their extinction in honor of Earth Day.

Burlington Apple Retail Store - Workshops Offered during April School Vacation week.  
Apple Retail in Burlington, Massachusetts will be holding Workshops during school vacation week from April 17 - 23, 2016.   These events are always free.
Topics include Basics of using an iPhone/iPad/Mac, Introduction to using iCloud, Videography on an iPhone, Shooting Artistic Photos with iPhone, Sharing ideas for Presentations, Sketching, Drawing or Painting on an iPad.
