How the PTO Works:  Each Year the Memorial School PTO raises approximately  $18,000 to support the needs of the school.  PTO Volunteers organize all social functions for the school, enabling kids to spend time outside of the classroom to build relationships.  Parents are also given the opportunity to come together, strengthen friendships and foster school community.
PTO MONEY HARD AT WORK:
Enrichment - The PTO supports educational programs that come to Memorial to reinforce what is being taught in the classroom.  Children in all grades benefit from these programs which include author visits, music, science and weather programs and various artist visits.

Field Trips - The PTO subsidize the cost of hiring buses for class field trips throughout the year.  Each class is provided with a free bus ride for one of their educational field trips each year compliments of the PTO.

Family Social Events - This committee plans all extra curricular events at the school.  Ice Cream Socials, Family Picnic, Pizza Movie Night are just a few examples where kids and parents are getting together at the school just for fun!

End of Year Gifts for School - Past gifts include a portable audio system and an art/mural paper dispenser.

Recess Equipment/Supplies for Music and Art - The PTO provides all the recess equipment your child uses during recess.

Scholarships - The PTO awards a scholarship each year to graduating High School Seniors that are alumni of Memorial School

Fifth Grade Committee - The PTO supports the 5th Grade Memory Book and all moving up activities associated with the 5th grade class.

Field Day - The PTO provides the bounce house for this momentous occasion, and volunteers get to see the kids enjoy going from station to station and competing against each other for fun.

Miscellaneous - From landscaping to subscriptions, retirement gifts to supplies, the PTO here to support our school in any way we're able.

Teacher Appreciation and Hospitality - The PTO subsidize coffee for the teachers.  On the first Thursday of each month, volunteers sign up to bring in goodies for the morning in appreciation for the teachers’ efforts each and every day.  Also, each year we welcome new parents to the school with refreshments and an information packet.  The PTO also provides refreshments after most evening events that are scheduled at Memorial.

Veteran’s Day Assembly:  One of our special traditions at Memorial School is honoring those who have served our country in the Armed Services.  Each year, a  grade level leads us in honoring veterans and those currently serving our country in a whole school sing along.  This year’s assembly will be held on Monday, November 9th, at 1:15 pm in the cafetorium.  Families are welcome to join us for this special ceremony.  If you know of a veteran, or a current serviceman or woman who would be available at that time, please invite them to attend!

21st Annual Coats for Kids:  Please donate your gently used winter coats for children and adults.  Any warm, winter coats, gently used, good quality, all sizes needed (Especially XL, & Pre-K sizes).    Please do not drop off any coats with rips, tears, broken zippers, or permanent stains.  Sweatshirts, vests, and spring coats are not needed.  You may drop of coats in the main lobby of Memorial School, there will be a box in the lobby.  Once collected and cleaned, coats are distributed by social service agents to those in need within the community.  The coat drive will run Oct 12th - Jan 8th.
