From the Office:
Safety & Security Reminder:  The main entrance door where walkers enter and exit will be unlocked between 7:55 am and 8:10 am.  If you are dropping off your child past 8:10 am, kindly walk them into to office and sign them in on the tardy sheet so that they are not marked absent.  Also, please remember, all exterior doors are locked during school hours.  Parents or guardians entering with their child or by themselves need to use the main entrance  and report to the office.  Please understand that parents are not allowed to disrupt instructional time by visiting classrooms unless specific prior arrangements have been made with the teacher.

Drop-off and Pick-up procedures are as follows:
  1. Enter the school grounds through the driveway next to the blue Memorial School sign and turn right.
  2. Keeping right, follow the roadway down and around the flagpole, and pull up along the curb behind cars in front of you.
  3. Staff members will be there to direct traffic and supervise children as they exit, or enter, vehicles.  For safety’s sake, children must use the car door on the PASSENGER side, or curbside.
  4. After your child has left, or entered, the car, remain in line (NO PASSING) and follow the cars in front of you to merge on to Winn Street.
Thank you for following these safety procedures, developed by Burlington Police Department Safety Officer Bernie Schippelitti and the Burlington Public Schools.  They will help everyone to arrive at school, and later at home, safe and sound.

Save The Date: Please mark your calendars for the annual Memorial Spring Art Show and Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, May 16th from 8:00-10:00 a.m.! Mrs. York is busy decking the main hall with our children’s amazing artwork. Come and take it all in then enjoy breakfast in the cafe with Memorial friends, new and old. The whole family is welcome!  More information about the event will follow after spring vacation.

Happenings Around Town:

Join Us on April 13th  From: 6:30-9:00pm

At the Marion Tavern for a night out with other PAC parents.

For anyone interested in special education in Burlington, the Burlington PAC is holding a networking night. In attendance will be special guest, soon to be School Committee member, Martha Simon.

Join us at the Marion Tavern (downstairs)
Come at 6:30 and meet Martha.
She will give us an introduction, including her background and experience in special education.  Then open it up to questions, concerns, and share ideas for what's working currently and what's not.

After, we will discuss the future of the PAC, how we've been doing, what we can do better and discuss volunteer opportunities for the next school year.

A great night to come out and discuss your experiences both in the school district and with PAC.

For more information on the Burlington PAC or this location contact Lisa DeRosa at buringtonspedpac@gmail.com or via phone at 781-365-0124

We originally had Math Skills scheduled for this night but the presenter canceled because of a conflict. We will reschedule that presentation and let you know the new date. Sorry.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day:  On Saturday, April 25th, the Burlington Board of Health will conduct a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day at Francis Wyman from 8:30am to 12pm.  This collection event is for Burlington Residents and provides an opportunity for proper disposal of household quantities of hazardous materials.  Proof of residency will be required.  For more information, please visit the Board of Health website at http://www.burlington.org, Department A-M, Health or call 781-270-1955.

Substitute Cafeteria Workers & Bus Monitors Needed:

The Burlington Schools are looking for part-time Substitute Cafeteria Workers and Bus Monitors.  If you or someone you know would be interested in learning more, please visit our website at https://bpsk12.tedk12.com/hire.

Burlington Mother to Mother:  Pre-K Socials for Burlington children entering Kindergarten in Fall 2015.  Organized by Mother to Mother, socials are free, open to everyone and take place at each of the schools’ playgrounds.  The socials can help ease the transition to kindergarten as they are a great opportunity for children (and parents) to start familiarizing themselves with the school environment and getting to know others whom they’ll be seeing this fall.

The first socials will be starting at the end of April.  To rsvp or if you have any questions, please contact Sharleen Davis at sharleendavis@hotmail.com  with your name, email address and first name of your child entering kindergarten.  www.mothertomotherburlington.org
