Reminders from the Office:
Scoliosis screening for Grade 5:  The schedule for screening will be Mr  Rabazzi and Miss Conceison’s class on Monday, and Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Olshaw’s class on Tuesday.  Please remember girls need to wear a bathing suit top or clothing that allows a view of the back bones (vertebra). Parents can opt their child out with a doctor's note addressed to the nurse.  
From the PTO: Calling all 5th grade parents- Do you want to assist with 5th Grade Activities and be part of this year’s 5th Grade Committee?  Come join us for a meeting on October 22nd at 7pm in the Memorial Library.   

Attendance:  At this time of year, colds, and sniffles are inevitable, but regular attendance at school is important to your child’s continuing progress.  Excessive absenteeism and tardiness can negatively impact his or her ability to learn and to excel in school.  Please remember that if your child is going to be absent for any reason, please notify us via the School Absentee Line at 781-273-7649 by 8:15am on the day of absence.  

Happenings Around Town:
Flu Clinic:
The Burlington Board of Health will hold a public walk-in flu clinic on Saturday, October 25, 2014 (rescheduled from 9/27) from 12pm-3pm at Memorial School, 125 Winn Street, Burlington.  No appointment is necessary.  All flu vaccines are free, but if you have health insurance please bring your information.  All children and adults are eligible for free vaccine regardless of insurance status.  Children under age 18 must be accompanied by parent/guardian.  If possible, please wear a loose-fitting short sleeve shirt.  For the most current information, please call the BOH Flu Clinic Line at 781 238-5353.  If you have questions for the nurse, call the office at 781-270-1957.

Burlington Community Scholarship Foundation:
Come celebrate with familiar faces, rekindle friendships, and share laughs, while reminiscing about the good days.  Alumni Bash, 70s, 80s, 90s, Reunion to Benefit the Burlington Community Scholarship Foundation on Saturday, November 8th, from 6:30pm to 8:30pm.  Tickets are $10.00.

BHS Athletics Boosters:
Burlington High School Athletic Boosters Annual Craft Fair and Shopping Extravaganza. Sunday, October 18th from 10am to 3pm in the BHS Cafeteria.  Crafters, vendors, bake sale, concession stand, raffles. Free admission. Join us and support the athletes of Burlington !

Childhood Stress & Anxiety: Causes, Impact & Strategies  6:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. October 23, Marshall Simonds Middle School, Library.  Presented by Joel M. Ristuccia, a certified School Psychologist with over twenty-five years experience working in the public schools.

Come hear Joel talk about Anxiety in students k-12, why it happens and what you can do about it.
