As we start a new school year, it is not unusual to have a few questions about bus schedules, drivers and bus stops. Please know the front office is happy to answer questions for you during school hours (781-270-1721) but if you are unable to reach us, please connect directly with A and F Bus company at 781-229-0111.
If your child is going to be absent or late,you MUST call the School Absentee Line at 781-273-7649 BEFORE 8:10 am on the day of the absence. An answering machine will record your message. Please leave your Child’s name, grade level, teacher’s name and reason for the absence. Please also notify Miss Hunter or Mrs. Sakey (School Nurses) at 781-270-1724 with any important health related information.
Note Required for a Change in Dismissal Plans:
In the interest of safety, on any day that a child’s routine transportation plans are altered, a note must be written and signed by a parent or guardian to the classroom teacher to describe the change. Occasionally an emergency situation arises during the day that necessitates a change. If such an emergency should arise and it is necessary to change your child’s transportation plans during the school day, please contact the office by phone (781-270-1721) before your child’s scheduled lunchtime to ensure that his or her teacher receives the information. (Do not call the teacher directly, or email requests, as these messages may not be received before the end of the day.) Please understand that due to the busy-ness of dismissal time and our concern about student safety, students can not be dismissed without your sending in a note to the teacher or notifying the office before students’ scheduled lunch time. Buses are held until all children are accounted for, impacting the timely departure of the buses and students’ arrival time at home. Thank you in advance for helping us to keep “Memorial Kids” safe by informing us of changes well before dismissal time.
If you are planning to volunteer or chaperone during this school year (and we hope you will), you must be CORI’d. You can do this by visiting the Superintendent’s office to fill out a CORI (Criminal Offender Records Information) form. You will also need to bring a government-issued photo ID (a license will do). The Superintendent’s Office is located in the business office at the Burlington High School, 123 Cambridge Street. The entrance is around the back of the school. CORI approvals are good for three years, so if you filled out a CORI during the last two years, it is not necessary to submit a form again for this year. If you are unsure of when your last CORI was done, please call the school office and Mrs. Bogosh or Mrs. Shaikh will be happy to help.

The Memorial PTO needs you! Please visit our website http://www.memorialschoolpto.org/ to register your family, pay your dues online, and sign up for volunteer opportunities. Information about the many ways that you can help the PTO are on the website. We look forward to the events that are coming up during this school year. Information about our first meeting will be forthcoming.

Attention 4th graders and parents re: 4th grade Instrumental Music Lessons
Back in June 3rd graders attended an assembly that demonstrated the flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and trombone. Students interested in beginning lessons on one of these instruments received a notice describing the instrumental program. For more information please go to elemband.wordpress.com. A commitment to practicing at home is essential for success. Introductory lessons will start the week of September 8. Classroom teachers will have the lesson schedule. Adopt a Class 2019:
Sunday, October 12th at Burton’s Grill – private Patriots football viewing party from 11:30-4:00 PM. Tickets are $25 and include appetizers, cash bar, and the chance to participate in raffles/silent auctions.Mail check to Denise Griffin c/o Adopt a Class 2019 (payable Adopt a Class 2019) or purchase at door.

A & F Bus Company invites you to help us FILL THAT BUS with non-perishable, unexpired food to benefit the Burlington Food Pantry.
Please bring your donation to Burlington Truck Day on Sunday September 14th between 10am & 3pm.
Look for the A&F school bus parked on the Burlington Common!
Donations are also accepted at Shaw’s Supermarket - there will be a school bus at Shaw's too!
