Important Information

Good Morning Memorial School families,

I wanted to share some information regarding the recent routine Lead and Copper Rule monitoring that took place at Memorial School. Two samples of water were taken and tested by the Burlington Water Department.  One of those samples tested positive for “elevated levels.”  The location at “elevated levels” was not in an area that students would be exposed to or drink from.  Moreover, these levels are not considered harmful and do not meet the maximum contaminate levels allowed for safe drinking water. These levels do, however, reach an “action level” that requires the school district to put an action plan in place.  Please know, all suggested action steps from the Town of Burlington DPW and the Board of Health are currently taking place. In addition, we are providing water bottles to students and staff and have designated all water bubblers out of order until we get updated water level results. The kitchen staff is also using bottled water to prepare student lunches. I will update you with more information as I get it. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Thank you,
Deb Dressler
