From the PTO
The first PTO Meeting of the 2013-2014 school year will be next Thursday, October 17th at 7 pm in the Library. Please join us to learn about the many opportunities the PTO has to offer Memorial families. We will be presenting the budget and hearing from our new principal, Mrs. Dressler. We look forward to seeing you!

Halloween Dance Party and Ice Cream Social – Friday, October 25th, 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Memorial  Kids, wear your costumes, make your own sundaes, get your face painted, dance with your friends, and enjoy watching a Halloween movie on the BIG screen!  $5 per child ($10 max per family).  Siblings welcome!   Volunteers are always needed and appreciated.  If interested in volunteering, please contact either Heidi Brosnan at h_brosnan@yahoo.com, or Holly Previte at hprevite@hotmail.com .

Treats for Troops
Memorial School is once again joining other Burlington schools in collecting wrapped Halloween Candy for our troops overseas.  Over the last few years we have been able to send over 6000lbs of candy to troops stationed in Iraq and Afghanistan.  Please join in again and donate some of your Halloween candy or pick up and an extra bag at the store and help us send a little Halloween cheer overseas!  Soldiers love getting cards and letters from kids back home.  If you would like to send a special message to a soldier overseas, please put your letter in the Orange Collection box along with your candy and we will make sure it gets to a soldier!

Note Required for a Change in Dismissal Plans
In the interest of safety, on any day that a child’s routine transportation plans are altered, a note must be written and signed by a parent or guardian to the classroom teacher to describe the change.  Occasionally an emergency situation arises during the day that necessitates a change.  If such an emergency should arise and it is necessary to change your child’s transportation plans during the school day, please contact the office by phone (781-270-1721) before your child’s scheduled lunchtime to ensure that his or her teacher receives the information. (Do not call the teacher directly, or email requests, as these messages may not be received before the end of the day.) Please understand that due to the busy-ness of dismissal time and our concern about student safety, students can not be dismissed without your sending in a note to the teacher or notifying the office before students’ scheduled lunch time. Buses are held until all children are accounted for, impacting the timely departure of the buses and students’ arrival time at home.  Thank  you in advance for helping us to keep “Memorial Kids” safe by informing us of changes well before dismissal time.

The Burlington High School Athletic Boosters Club will host their annual Craft Fair, Saturday, October 19th.  The fair will be at the BHS cafeterias from 10 - 3.
This year, 100 crafters will offer lovely jewelry, holiday items, doll clothes, home decorations, cards, books, and more.  Our new cafe section will feature unique sauces, jellies, chocolates, and other gourmet items.
Our bake sale table will feature delicious snacks.  Enter the HUGE raffle including a wide variety of our crafters creations.  Enjoy lunch at our concession stand and dining area.

Admission is only $2, and includes a FREE raffle ticket.  BHS is handicapped accessible.

Cori Forms
If you are planning to volunteer or chaperone during this school year (and we hope you will), you must be CORI’d. You can do this by visiting the Superintendent’s office to fill out a CORI (Criminal Offender Records Information) form.  You will also need to bring a government-issued photo ID (a license will do). The Superintendent’s Office is located in the business office at the Burlington High School, 123 Cambridge Street. The entrance is around the back of the school. CORI approvals are good for three years, so if you filled out a CORI during the last two years, it is not necessary to submit a form again for this year. If you are unsure of when your last CORI was done, please call the school office and Mrs. Bogosh or Mrs. Shaikh will be happy to help.
