FROM THE NURSE
There have been a few cases of lice in some of our schools. The nurses would like to remind parents to check their children's heads at least once a week, and to remind their children to avoid sharing personal items (i.e., combs,
brushes, hats, helmets, hair accessories). Also, please notify the school nurse if your child has lice or has recently been treated for lice (even if your child had lice over vacation).

5TH GRADE ACTIVITIES
D.A.R.E. GRADUATION
"We're looking for two 4th grade parents who would be willing to donate their time to assist with the 5th grade Dare Graduation Ceremony on Monday, March 12th at the Memorial School (during the evening). Fifth graders participated in a 12-week program instructed by Officers Steve Cross and Keith Sheppard. Each week they were not only educated about the dangers of drugs, alcohol, and smoking, but also how to resist peer pressure, prevent bullying, choose the right friends, build self-esteem and self-confidence, look out for others, avoid strangers, find strength in numbers, and make healthy decisions. You would simply be required to work the refreshment table after the ceremony is complete, and assist with set-up. It's a great opportunity to donate your time, as well as assist in such a worthwhile event! If interested, please contact Lisa Lupo at (781)270-0089 or jlupo4@verizon.net. Thank you!"

Parent Information Meeting re: End of the Year 5th Grade Activities – There is a meeting for all parents of 5th graders on Wednesday, March 14th, at 7pm in the School Library. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss end of the year activities, designed to help our 5th grade students celebrate their elementary school years and transition to the middle school environment with confidence and enthusiasm. We hope you will join us!

“MEMORY BOOK” Just a reminder that we are in the process of creating a Memory Book for 5th graders, and our focus is on gathering photographs for it. If you have photos of our current 5th graders from grades k-5 – individual, small group, or large group – at Memorial or a previous school – sharing them with us will help to make the book an even more special keepsake for them. We will be taking pictures of the 5th graders at school for their personal memory book page, but we also ask that you send in a baby picture or toddler picture and a favorite photo of themselves from any time or place or age (vacation/school/sports, etc.). We ask that you send in the pictures by March 1st in order to get them formatted into the Memory Book. (Please see today’s backpack folder for additional information.)

If you would like to be involved in the Memory Book Committee, please contact Susan Lavacchia at gnLsue@hotmail.com. Thank you for your help and cooperation in making this year’s Memory Book an extra-special one for the first 5th grade class to “graduate” from the new Memorial School!

Happy Vacation, Everyone!
See you on Monday, February 27th!

FROM THE OFFICE
Safety Concern: Drop-off & Pick-up
Life is hurried, and we are all eager to begin our day on time. In the interest of everyone’s safety, we thank you for complying with our drop-off and pick-up procedures here at the new Memorial. Our safety concern at this point is with the those arriving in the minute or two before or after the start of school who drive faster than they normally would in a school parking lot. As pedestrians are sometimes crossing in the crosswalk at this time, please remember to drive at a safe speed. Striking a pedestrian – child or adult – will not only cause a delay in your day, but is something that none of us could live with. This may sound melodramatic, but the unsafe drop-off and pick-up behavior of a few jeopardizes the safety of all. Thank you in advance for your careful attention to this matter.
