FROM THE OFFICE
“Celebrations around the World”
What a wonderful way to begin the musical history of our new school! The concert, presented by the Memorial School Band and Chorus, was delightfully entertaining and a perfect way to launch the holiday season! Thank you to Mr. Napierkowski, Ms. Maxwell, Mrs. Niu, and Mrs. Rzasa for their hard work and energy in preparing 4th and 5th graders for their performances, with a special thanks to retired Burlington music teacher Mr. Jack Butler for his accompaniment on percussion. Thanks too to 4th and 5th grade teams and specialists for their support and scheduling flexibility, to Mrs. Olshaw and Mrs. Weinberg for helping to organize the performers before the start of the evening show, and to Mrs. York (along with students in grades 1 through 5) for transforming Memorial Hall with a rendition of Jan Brett’s wonderful story, The Mitten. Most of all, thanks to each of you who attended the morning or evening performance. It is your love and support that encourages your children and our students to become the best that they can be, musically and otherwise!

FROM THE 5TH GRADE “MEMORY BOOK” COMMITTEEThis is an exciting time for our children as they enjoy their last year at Memorial School and prepare to move on to middle school. Special events and projects are planned for the coming months such as a Moving Up Ceremony, an all-day picnic in June, and the creation of a special Memory Book. At this stage, our focus is on gathering photographs for the Memory Book. If you have photos of our current 5th graders from grades K-5 – individual, small group, or large group -- at Memorial or a previous school -- sharing them with us will help to make the book even more special for fifth graders and their families. There are several ways to share them. One way is to send them in to your child’s classroom teacher in an envelope marked ‘Memory Book’ with your child’s name, room number, and contact number on the envelope. Another way is to burn the photos onto a CD or save them on a thumb drive (any format will work). Please be sure to label all photos, CDs or thumb drives with your child's full name so that they may be returned to you. If you would like to be involved in the Yearbook Committee, please contact Susan Lavacchia.
Thank you for your help in making this year’s Memory Book an extra-special one for our first year at the New Memorial!-- Committee Co-Chairs Susan Lavacchia & Janice Cobuzzi-Luecke
GRATITUDE – FILLING THEIR BUCKETS AND OURS TOO
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Toys for Tots, Small Change Can Make a Big Difference, and Food Pantry drives! Not only have we helped families in need, but we have taught our children an important life lesson about giving back.
COATS FOR KIDS is still underway, and will be through January 8th.
We are collecting winter coats for kids, moms, and dads too. ALL sizes are needed. As you clean out closets in preparation for winter and the new year, please remember that there is a box for jackets and coats that are no longer needed in the hallway outside the office. Thank you in advance for helping to make this winter a warmer one for those in need.
