FROM THE FOOD SERVICES DEPARTMENT (BURLINGTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS)
Last spring, the Burlington Public Schools implemented a cashless cafeteria payment system. This system provides two options for school lunch payment:
* The first option is to bring a check into the cafeteria manager made out to Burlington Public School Lunch. The manager can put the money into the student's account.
* The second option is for the parent to go on to www.PayPams.com and set up an account.
PayPams is an online credit and debit card payment program, which offers a free service that allows parents to receive notification should a child’s lunch account balance run low. By registering for this service, you can also check on your child’s daily lunch purchases. Questions? Please contact the Food Services Department at 781-270-1756.FROM THE OFFICE
A heartfelt thank you to the many families who contributed to the Treats for Our Troops Box and the CARE packages for American men and women serving in the military overseas (Honor our Heroes!). Your generosity will put smiles on the faces of many people, always important but especially during the holidays when they are so far from home and family!

FROM THE LIBRARY
The Book Fair is Coming! November 29th through December 3rd!
An amazing selection of books is headed our way the week after Thanksgiving -- just in time for holiday gift-giving! The theme for this year’s Fair is “Honor Our Heroes! Reading Saves the Day!” and it is a GREAT way to get the whole family excited about reading. The Fair will be open during school hours Monday through Friday that week, and during extended hours on Monday (11/29) and Thursday (12/2). You are more than welcome to join your child during his or her scheduled browsing time, or to come by the Fair during school or extended hours. If you would like to volunteer to be a part of this fun event, please call 781-273-7656 or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. ‘Hope to see you there! -- Mrs. Field
FROM THE PTO
The next PTO meeting will be held on Thursday, January 6th in the school library. We hope you will join us!
SCRIPS Program The holidays are coming, and a gift card to a favorite restaurant or store might be the perfect way to solve your ‘Shopping Challenges!’ Once again, the PTO is offering the opportunity to purchase gift cards for the holidays without leaving the comfort of your home. (Please see last week’s backpack for details.) Shopping through the SCRIP program will help your family and Memorial School too. For every gift card purchased, the school receives a percentage ranging from 2% to 17%. What a simple -- and useful - fundraiser! Orders are due on Friday, December 3rd. Gift Cards will be delivered by December 15th.
Box Tops for Education Please send in your Box Tops from participating General Mills products. They are easily found on the back/sides of MANY every-day products like cereal, etc. We have a collection box located in the library on Mrs. Field’s desk, easily accessible to children for drop-off. This is an easy and FREE way to get money for our school. Thank you in advance for your help.
GRATITUDE – Filling Buckets (“Theirs” & Ours Too)
COATS FOR KIDS
Memorial School will be participating in the Coats for Kids program again this year! Now through January 8th, 2011 we will be collecting winter coats for kids, moms, and dads. All sizes are needed. There is a box for donations outside the guidance office.
TOYS FOR TOTS The Memorial School will be helping the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves with the Toys for Tots Drive. We will be collecting new, unwrapped toys in the collection box located in front of the Health Office until Friday, December 10th. This can be a very difficult time of the year for many families. Please consider helping to put a smile on a child’s face. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
